Alexander Wanat

Alexander Wanat (born 1992 in Düsseldorf, Germany) studied acting at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. During his training, he performed at the Berliner Ensemble and appeared as Faust in Robert Wilson’s Faust I+II. He subsequently worked at Staatstheater Braunschweig, collaborating with directors including Mina Salehpour and Stephan Rottkamp.
From 2017 to 2022, Wanat was a member of the ensemble at Theater Aachen, where he worked with Christina Rast, Christian von Treskow, and Martin Schultze, among others. He also co-authored, co-directed, and performed in the devised theatre production To Be or Not To Be or THE DIRECTOR IS NOT PRESENT, which was invited to the Shakespeare Festival in 2023.

Since 2023, he has been performing at Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus, appearing in The Marriage of Figaro, or The Follies of a Day (dir. Andreas Kriegenburg), The Miser (dir. Bernadette Sonnenbichler), and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (dir. Stas Zyrkov). His current stage work includes The Neverending Story (dir. Roger Vontobel), Kafka’s Dream (dir. Andreas Kriegenburg), and Mindset (dir. Robert Zeigermann).


Alongside his acting work, Wanat has served as musical director for several productions, including How to Survive with Hildegard Knef (Theater an der Glocksee, dir. Tommy Wiesner, 2025), The Sorrows of Young Werther (2019), and Images of a Great Love (2022), both directed by Calle Fuhr at Vienna’s Volkstheater.
